A Woodville man was arrested on multiple charges after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase through parts of Tyler County on the evening of July 11, 2025.

According to the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 8:40 p.m. when a Woodville Police Department sergeant attempted to stop a Chevrolet Traverse for a traffic violation on Highway 190 East. The driver refused to pull over, accelerating at a high rate of speed onto FM 1746, and later turning onto FM 2992.

Tyler County Deputies stationed in the Spurger area deployed a Stinger Spike System near the intersection of FM 2992 and FM 1013. The device successfully deflated both left tires of the vehicle, which eventually came to a stop after turning onto FM 1013.

Officers identified the driver as 33-year-old Marc Anthony Soto of Woodville. Deputies noted that Soto was extremely intoxicated—reportedly unable to stand without support. A search of the vehicle revealed a small-caliber handgun.

Soto was taken into custody and transported to the Tyler County Jail, where he was booked on the following charges:

  • Felony Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle

  • Driving While Intoxicated

  • Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon

  • Justice of the Peace Tina Self set bond at $32,500.

Sheriff Bryan Weatherford praised the coordinated response between departments and emphasized the importance of removing impaired drivers and illegal weapons from local roadways.
