Woodville, TX – August 26, 2025

A significant narcotics arrest earlier this month has underscored both the persistence of illegal drug activity in Tyler County and the determined efforts of law enforcement to combat it.

On August 18, 2025, the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office, working alongside the Tyler County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety, executed a search and arrest warrant at a residence on Highway 190, east of Woodville. The warrant was the result of an ongoing organized crime and narcotics investigation involving both state and local agencies.

Authorities arrested 52-year-old Christopher Tubb of Woodville on parole violation and drug charges. During the search, officers seized approximately 340 grams of methamphetamine, 3 ounces of marijuana, and eight firearms that Tubb, a convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing.

Tubb was booked into the Tyler County Jail on multiple felony charges, including manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of marijuana. Justice of the Peace Tina Self set bond at $875,000. He remains in custody.

Sheriff Bryan Weatherford credited the success of the operation to the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies, emphasizing the level of work and persistence such cases demand. “I want to personally thank the employees of the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office, the Tyler County District Attorney’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety and all local law enforcement agencies for their assistance and unwavering support to fight crime and keep Tyler County safe,” Weatherford said in a statement.

The Work Behind the Arrest

Cases like this are not resolved overnight. Large-scale narcotics investigations often involve months of surveillance, intelligence gathering, and legal preparation before officers can move in to make arrests. The successful seizure on August 18 reflects the behind-the-scenes effort of investigators, prosecutors, and law enforcement who build cases carefully to ensure charges hold up in court.

While many residents are frustrated with the ongoing presence of drugs in Tyler County, this operation demonstrates that progress is being made. Local agencies are committed to dismantling networks of drug manufacturing and distribution, but these efforts require time, patience, and coordination.

A Call for Community Vigilance

Law enforcement leaders continue to stress that community involvement is essential in addressing drug-related crime. Citizens who witness suspicious or illegal activity are encouraged to report it through Crime Stoppers or directly to the Sheriff’s Office.

Drug abuse and trafficking impact not only those directly involved, but also families, neighborhoods, and the overall safety of Tyler County. Holding law enforcement accountable to the community means expecting results, but also recognizing the complexity of the task and supporting the ongoing work to disrupt criminal activity.

As this case moves forward in the courts, Tyler County officials encourage residents to remain vigilant and engaged in the shared goal of a safer community.
