Man arrested for Exploitation of the Elderly in Polk County

The Polk County Sheriff's Office received information back on June 11th of this year regarding a man who 'allegedly' scammed a local retirement community resident.


During the investigation, it was discovered that 38-year-old Matthew “Billy” Boyce 'allegedly' scammed the resident out of thousands of dollars. According to the report, Boyce told the victim that he would repair their roof which he did not do, but still charged the victim several thousand dollars.


A felony warrant was issued for Exploitation of the Elderly which is a State Jail Felony. On June 20th, Boyce was arrested in Athens, Texas. He was transferred to the Polk County Jail and has since bonded out.


Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons asks the public, "If you have any information about this individual or if you were contacted by him, please contact the Polk County Criminal Investigations Division at 936-327-6810."
