Update: Suspect was apprehended Monday afternoon August 25th
Tyler County Sheriff’s Office Statement at approximately 12:30PM on August 25th
On August 24th, 2025, at approximately 8:30 am, Tyler County Deputies were patrolling the Warren area. Deputies attempted to stop a Kia Soul, on Highway 69 South of Warren, for a traffic violation. With emergency lights and siren activated the passenger car continued at a high rate of speed refusing to stop for Deputies. The suspect vehicle turned onto County Road 4270 and then onto County Road 4275. As the suspect vehicle looped around a driveway, heading back down County Road 4275, Deputies observed the driver to be a heavy-set white male with bald/very short buzzed head. The suspect vehicle continued back to Highway 69 and turned south accelerating to speeds reaching 100 mph.
The suspect vehicle lost control and crashed while attempting to turn onto FM 2827. The crash created a large debris field and cloud of dust. Deputies discovered the vehicle unoccupied and did not observe the driver near the crash site. During a search of the vehicle, Deputies discovered a wallet and cell phone belonging to Brian Benton, age 46 of Warren. Benton matched the description of the individual seen by Deputies during the pursuit. It was also verified, by a witness, that Benton left a residence a few hours earlier driving the Kia Soul. Deputies, assisted by the Ivanhoe and Woodville Police Departments, searched the area throughout the night but were unable to locate Benton.
On August 25th, 2025, at approximately 7:20 am, Deputies were made aware of a suspicious male walking down a driveway off of Fm 2827. While enroute, Deputies learned that an ATV was just stolen and was headed East on FM 2827 towards US 69. Warren ISD Police Chief Steven Hoke, who was in the area, observed Benton driving on the ATV and began pursuing him on Highway 69 heading North. As Benton neared the road construction area, he drove through a wooded area. Deputies were able to recover the ATV that became disabled in the woods but were unable to locate Benton.

Benton is described as a white-male 5"11 260, bald/ very short buzzed hair. Benton is currently wanted for two (2) Felony Evading Arrests w/Motor Vehicle and Felony Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle.
