November 23, 1928 - September 6, 2025

Dorothy Jane McClain Morris passed away unto her Lord and Savior on September 6, 2025.
Born and raised in Spurger, Texas, even though life’s journey over the last 2 years had taken her to live in Sour Lake to be close to family, Spurger would always be her home. She was the last survivor of the Spurger Pirates Class of 1947. She retired from the Credit Bureau Service of Beaumont with 44 years of dedicated service.
She loved the Lord with all her heart, mind, and soul, and wanted everyone to know it. The greatest prayer warrior for all and everyone, she will be greatly missed. She loved her family and family gatherings. She was definitely a homemaker who was known for her dumplings and pound cake. She loved her family and friends and serving them anyway she could. Her smile and communication will definitely be missed by all.
Her final words to all would be, “Do you know my Jesus?”
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, T. L. and Myrtie McClain; her husband, James C. “J.C.” Morris, and daughter, Paula K. Anders.
Her loving family survives her; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Tommy Smith; sister, Jean Isaacks of Warren; brother, Mack McClain of Gilmer; grandchildren, Wendy and Wade Henry, Chris Anders, Jason and Brenda Smith, Brandon and Tonya Smith, Cody and Debbie Smith; great-grandchildren, Connor and Mackenzy Henry, Morgan Anders Allen, Hallie Anders, Mason and Madelyn Smith, Carter and Kenli Smith, Summer and Laiton Smith and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11 am at the First Baptist Church in Spurger. Burial will follow at the Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 am to 11 am at the church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Anders, Chris Anders, Jason Smith, Mason Smith, Brandon Smith, Carter Smith, Cody Smith, Connor Henry, and Laiton Smith.
We would like to thank the Hospice Care Team for the special care, and especially Dedra Ashworth for her love and dedication.
In lieu of flowers, donations in our loved one's name may be made to the First Baptist Church of Spurger.
