April 22, 1948 - July 7, 2025

Heaven gained a faithful servant on July 7, 2025, when Evone, 77, of Colmesneil, TX, received her ultimate healing and entered her eternal rest. Her chains of cancer are gone; she’s been set free! Born on April 22, 1948, in the Bethany Community of Colmesneil, Texas, she lived a life rooted in love, grace, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She passed away Monday, July 7, 2025 at CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial Hospital in Lufkin, Texas.
A proud graduate of Colmesneil High School, she was Salutatorian of the Class of 1966, a distinction that reflected her dedication and determination from a young age. She went on to enjoy a fulfilling career at Ogden Chevrolet until she and her husband, Travis, opened up “The Tackle Box”, a fishing supply store in Woodville. She returned to Allison Chevrolet, where she worked diligently until her well-earned retirement.
She married Travis Brown on July 4,1979 and was a devoted wife to him for 37 years. She loved big and was a steadfast presence in the lives of all who knew her. She never met a stranger and had more lifelong best friends than most. Tyler County was always “home” to her. Her kind heart and gentle spirit were a source of encouragement to her family, friends, and community.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and service. Left to cherish her memory are her three step-daughters, Angela, Amy, & April, two brothers: Leonard (Betty) Durham of Lawton, OK and Billy Jack (Cindy) Durham of Huntington, TX; one sister, who was also her best friend, Laverne (Larry) Parsons of Lufkin, TX; 2 sister in laws: Jackie Brown and Joyce Brown of Colmesneil, TX; numerous beloved nieces and nephews, ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous dear friends. Her life touched many, and her faith left a mark on those who knew her. She was a lifelong member of Colmesneil Assembly of God where she was saved and baptized at an early age. She attended until her health prevented her from going and then she always found a church service to watch online.
She is now joyfully reunited in Heaven with her beloved Travis, her parents Willie Lee and Jewel Durham of Colmesneil, brother Raymond Durham and wife Laura of Groves, TX, and one cherished niece, Janell Durham Phillips. We find comfort in knowing she was welcomed at the Pearly Gates by the arms of those who went before her and the promise of her Savior.
Her homegoing celebration will be a reflection of a life well lived — full of purpose, compassion, and steadfast faith.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” – Matthew 25:21
