John “Rooster” Swearingen, 73, of Colmesneil, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper, Texas.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Shiloh Cemetery near Woodville.
Rooster was born August 19, 1951 to John Blanton and Bobbie Rogers Swearingen in Beaumont, Texas. A longtime resident of Tyler County he was retired owner/operator of his own trucking business. John enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a U.S. Marine Vietnam veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Blanton and Bobbie Swearingen.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lillie Swearingen of Colmesneil; son, Chris Swearingen of Navasota; stepbrother, Jay Buescher of Colorado; stepsister, Jan Buescher of Port Neches; grandchildren, Chelsea Swearingen, and John Blanton Swearingen; great grandchildren, Autum Swearingen, and Isabel Swearingen.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
