Obituary of Joyce Marie McKee

July 11, 1949 - July 17, 2025

Joyce Marie McKee, 76, of Warren, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025 surrounded by her family at her residence in Warren, Texas.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 22, 2025 beginning at 12 noon until service time at 2 p.m. at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial following in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred, Texas. Officiating will be Brother Keith Hatton, Brother Lester Shird and Cora Odom. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Hager, Jordan Hager, Hunter McKee, Allen McKee, Kevin McKee and Joshua Shird.

Joyce was born July 11, 1949 to J. W. and Gladys Spurlock in Warren, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Warren and a member of the Warren Church of Christ. Joyce was a 1967 graduate of Warren High School and after 27 years, she retired as a teacher’s aide with the Warren ISD. She enjoyed hunting and being active in her church. Her faith in Christ was foremost in her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Gladys Spurlock; her husband of 51 years, James Howard McKee; brothers, J. D. Spurlock, Melvin Spurlock, Gerald Spurlock, Villa Dean Spurlock and Buddy Spurlock; and sister, Dorothy Pruitt.

She is survived by sons, Allen McKee and wife, Kimberly of Warren and Kevin Dale McKee and wife, Margaret of Midlothian; daughter, Jeana Shird and husband, Lester of Warren; brother, Elwood “Skeet” Spurlock and wife, Ann of Kirbyville; grandchildren, Donald McKee, Kaleb Shird, Joshua Shird, Sarah Shird, Cora Odom, Rachel Odom, J.P. Hager, Matthew Hager, Jordan Hager, Jamie McKee, Hunter McKee and Douglas McKee; great grandchildren, Noah Shird, Journee Shird, Mateo Chavarria, Matthew James Hager, Braxton Hager, Anastasia Christy; Isaac Shird and Ella Shird.
