Prescribed Burn Underway North of Colmesneil

The Tyler County Emergency Management Office has confirmed a prescribed burn is scheduled today north of Colmesneil along Highway 255.

The burn will cover approximately 50 acres and is expected to take place between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8.

Residents in the area may notice smoke during the day. Officials urge the public not to report the smoke unless they see signs of an uncontrolled fire.

Prescribed burns are planned fire events used to reduce wildfire risk and improve forest health.
