TYLER COUNTY, Texas — Tyler County is now under a burn ban and local disaster declaration, effective immediately, following an order issued Tuesday morning by County Judge Milton Powers.
The declaration cites ongoing drought conditions and the increased threat of wildfires, prompting the county to restrict all forms of outdoor burning. The order was signed on October 7, 2025, at 11:30 a.m.
Under the declaration:
All outdoor burning is prohibited, including the burning of brush, trees, trash, storm debris, construction materials, and open campfires.
Controlled burns conducted by local government entities with proper fire equipment and safety measures are allowed.
Exceptions may also apply for burning activities authorized by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality or those conducted under approved conservation plans.
Violations of the order are classified as a Class C misdemeanor and may carry fines of up to $500.
The burn ban will remain in effect for seven days unless extended or rescinded by the Tyler County Commissioners Court.
Residents are urged to use caution with any outdoor activities that could spark a fire and to report any signs of smoke or unauthorized burning to local authorities.
