Tyler County Sheriff’s Office released this photo Tuesday evening after the final suspect was taken into custody near FM 1745 in Chester.

The final suspect involved in a high-speed pursuit and manhunt through Tyler and Polk counties is now in custody.

According to an official update released at 8:09 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, by the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office, deputies located and arrested the third suspect in downtown Chester on Highway 287 at Farm-to-Market Road 1745. The suspect is being transported to the Polk County Jail, concluding a two-day multi-agency search.

This arrest follows a pursuit that began early Monday morning in Livingston, when Polk County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a stolen vehicle. The suspects fled north into Tyler County, eventually crashing near Bowden Road and fleeing on foot into the woods.

Two suspects were taken into custody on Monday — one by Tyler County deputies, the other by Polk County authorities — while the third remained at large until tonight’s capture.

Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford confirmed the update Tuesday night in a formal release, which included an image of the suspect inside a law enforcement vehicle. The arrest comes after a sustained effort involving TDCJ K9 units, DPS troopers, and local deputies working around the clock to secure the area.

“This concludes the active manhunt,” Sheriff Weatherford stated in the release. “Thank you to the many agencies and residents who assisted and remained vigilant.”
